Funeral services for Jon B. Robinson, 85, of Kennett, were held today, Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at 11 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Senath, Mo., with the Rev. Ron Dunavin officiating and the Rev. Jim Pemberton assisting.
Burial was in the Senath Cemetery.
Mr. Robinson died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at NHC Healthcare in Kennett.
He was born July 25, 1927, at Senath, to the late John B. and Winnie Roper Robinson.
On June 11, 1954, in Senath, he was married to Betty Harkey.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during WWII, a retired postal worker in the U.S. Post Office, and a longtime member of the Senath United Methodist Church, serving as a choir director, youth leader, and Sunday School teacher. He was a leader of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, a coach for the Little League baseball team, and a member of the Masonic Lodge with a 32 Degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Robinson, of Senath; one son, Russ Robinson, of Senath; one sister, Virginia Drane, of Houston, Texas; five nephews; and two nieces, along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Clay Robinson, and one sister, Margie Gessler.
Pallbearers were Lee Gentry, Gerald Gentry, Sr., Travis Galyean, Joe Droke, Jon Harris and C.B. Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers were David Andrews, Gene Slinkard, Bill Brigance, Bill Holifield, T. Z. Buck and A.L. Kelley, Jr.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett, is in charge of the arrangements.
