ARBYRD, Mo. - The Campbell Camels baseball team pounded out 11 runs and 12 hits on its way an 11-0 five-inning run-rule win against the Southland Rebels Monday afternoon.
"We've really been trying to emphasize hitting," Campbell coach Jeff Boner said. "It just seems the first three or four games we hit well and then went into a slump where we weren't hitting the ball at all. It was good to see them be aggressive at the plate at the beginning of the game today."
The Camels jumped on top early in Monday's contest when it sent eight batters to the plate in the first inning and calculated four runs on five hits. Campbell added two runs in the second, four runs in the third and one run in the fifth.

"They hit the baseball and we didn't make the plays," Southland coach Daniel Davis said. "Several of the runs were unearned. You have to make the easy plays."
Campbell's Brock Beacham finished 3 for 3 and recorded a one-RBI double in the top of the first. The Camels Austin Wethington was 2 for 2 with an RBI-double in the first and RBI-single in the second. Matt Goodnight was 2 for 3 with two one RBI-singles.
Campbell's Lance Dell had a two-RBI single .
Goodnight earned a complete-game win on the mound for Campbell. He allowed two hits in five innings pitched and struck out nine.

Southland's record currently stands at 3-4 on the season. It has a 16-1 win against Clarkton, 3-2 win against Senath-Hornersville and 3-2 win against Delta C-7. It suffered a 10-4 loss to Cooter, 7-6 loss to South Pemiscot and 8-5 loss to Risco.
"It's a learning season," Davis said. "We are young and have three kids that have never played before. I'm proud of them. They are working hard and we are getting better every day. They are being a team and helping each other. I think in the spring it will pay off and we will be a better team."
Southland will play at Risco Tuesday and at Holcomb Thursday.
Campbell (4-5) will host Holcomb Tuesday. Holcomb defeated Risco 5-2 on Monday.
"They are a tough team," Boner said of Holcomb. "We haven't been able to beat them the past couple of years. It will be an interesting game. I hope we come out and play a good ball game."
