JACKSON, Mo. - The Kennett varsity girls tennis team dropped its season opener 9-0 to Jackson Thursday afternoon.

Kennett edged Jackson 8-7 in the junior varsity match.

"I thought we played good for our first match," Kennett tennis coach Janet Hilburn said. "It is always tough to start off the season with a tough opponent like Jackson. They are solid all the way down. I'm very proud of my junior varsity. They won and played hard."
