Joe Floyd Skaggs, son of the late Curtis Skaggs and Leona Pelts Skaggs, was born Oct. 8, 1930, in Kennett, and departed this life Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 26 days.
He married Dorothy Marie McCain on July 6, 1957. She preceded him in death on Aug. 15, 2007.
Joe was of Kennett, and served in the United States Navy and later served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty McCain, of Flint, Mich., Jean Konieczka of Kennett and Jo Ann Norris, of Sikeston, Mo.; two brothers, J.C. Skaggs, of Kennett and Butch Skaggs, of Colleen, Texas; two sisters, Mary Anna Harris, of Kennett and Elnora Moore of Flint; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6, at McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Nolan Glover officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were James Hackworth, Bill Burkette, Randy Skaggs, Brett Skaggs, Russell Freeman and Tommy Samples.
