Details from Friday morning's fatal crash released

DUNKLIN COUNTY, Mo. -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol has finalized its report regarding a two-vehicle crash on Friday morning that killed two area children and injured six others.

According to MSHP Trooper B.W. Emerson, at approximately 9:18 a.m., a 2011 Nissan Sentra, driven by Jamie Vires, 28, of Portageville, Mo., was traveling westbound on Highway 153 when she pulled into the path of a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Brandi Palmer 37, of Rector, Ark.

According to Emerson, two young passengers in the Sentra, Brittlyn Scott, 9, and Brooklyn Scott, 6, both of Portageville, were killed as a result of the accident. Vires and a one-year-old female, were transported by helicopter for serious injuries.

Palmer and her three passengers -- Logan Hollis, 16, of Kennett, Brandon Palmer, 8, of Rector, and Michael Palmer, 10, of Rector -- suffered minor injuries and opted to seek treatment on their own.

Emerson reported that all of the individuals in the accident, with the exception of Vires, were wearing their seat belt or safety device.
