Ludie Opal Joyce, 96, of Parma died Monday, July 9, 2012, at Gideon Care Center in Gideon. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Parma.
Born October 7, 1915, in Scott County, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Joe Skidmore and Laura (Ketchum) Skidmore. On October 7, 1933, in Risco she was united in marriage to Reecie Joyce, who preceded her in death on February 22, 1960.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, Charles Joyce; infant son, Cletus Joyce; grandchildren, Keith Joyce, Jeffery White and Terry White; brothers, Essco Skidmore, Harlan Skidmore, Armar Skidmore and J.L. Skidmore and sisters, Ethel Skidmore, Edith Howard, Mamie Mercer and Loreen Jones.
Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Joyce White of Malden and Carolyn Joyce Cornman and husband, Jim, of Malden; four grandchildren, Dawn Cornman Vogel of Sikeston, Steve Joyce of Canalou, Mo., Eric Cornman of St. Louis and Dr. Aaron Cornman of Pierce City, Mo., and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Thursday, July 12, at Landess Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services followed immediately in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Cornman and Dr. Aaron Cornman officiating. Burial was in Park Cemetery at Malden. Landess Funeral home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
