Wilburn Dennis Proctor, son of the late Joel H. Proctor and Mary Lee Smith Proctor, was born n July 7, 1923, in Bells, Tenn., and departed this life Friday, July 6, 2012, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 29 days.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Wilburn married Zana Lee Finley on Nov. 15, 1947. She preceded him in death on May 13, 2011. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joel H. Proctor, Jr., Hansel Proctor and Gerald Proctor, and two sisters, Rachel Sanford and Fern Coleman.
He is survived by one brother, Roy Proctor, of Caruthersville, Mo.; three sisters, Bertha Raines, of Holland, Mo., Fay Osborne, of Steele, Mo., and Barbara Guess, of Blytheville, Ark.; numerous nieces and nephews; very special friends and family by choice, Greg and Tammy Akers and Beatrice Droke, and other relatives and many friends.
Visitation began at 12:30 p.m., and continued until 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, July 10, at McDaniel Funeral Service in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, July 10, at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial is in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Greg Akers, Donnie Dodd, Tracey Bridges, Brandon Smith, Carol Moore and Mike Grady.
