Willard F. Gales, 85, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of the Gideon, Mo., area, died peacefully in his home surrounded by family.
Born April 30, 1927, in Gideon, son of the late Clois Gales and Myrtle Kendrex Gales, he was a machine operator for the American Can Company in St. Louis.
On Dec. 31, 1960, in Malden, Mo., he married Patsy Brandon. They were married for over 51 years.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Gales, of the home; his children, Alan Gales and wife, Cindy, of St. Louis, Joyce Gales, of St. Louis, Melissa Byrne, of St. Louis, and Louis and Eric Gales, of Arnold, Mo.; six grandchildren, Katherine Cunningham-Gales, Samantha Gales, Zach Spencer, Danny Byrne, Dylan Gales and Megan Byrne; three step-grandchildren, Julia Clements, Eric Clements and Shaun Clements; one sister, Anna Mae Todd and husband, Bill, of St. Louis, and other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m., today, Thursday, July 5, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.

Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.
