In the superintendent's report, Larry Wood informed the board that the district is expecting a positive bank balance at the close of the school year, which ends June 30. An exact number was not available at press time, as Wood is waiting on a final payment.
Wood then informed the board that the summer maintenance at each campus is going well, with the following items already completed:

Changes to the handbooks include a section regarding throwing items out of bus windows in the middle school book, and at the high school, an addition was made stating that if students have excessive absences, they will be required to attend summer school.
The board also approved the payment of the Kennett tuition statement in the amount of $195,929.
The board then adjourned to executive session to discuss personnel matters.
After adjourning back to open session, the board approved the retirement and resignation of Randy Smith, athletic director/physical education instructor/baseball coach.
According to Wood, Smith's position will not be filled with a new hire, and current employees will take over his duties.
