SENATH, Mo. -- The Senath-Hornersville Board of Education approved the district's new directors and coordinators during its meeting on Tuesday.
Coordinators for the 2012-2013 school year include Superintendent Larry Wood, ADA coordinator, authorized representatives, press information coordinator; Mary Davidson, At-risk Coordinator; David Heeb, Athletic Director; Charles Horner, special services and drug education coordinator; Tara Crafton, Becca Cook, Leslie Johnson, curriculum directors; Kevin Reddick, discipline coordinator; Dora Chavez, ELL/ESOL and migrant coordinator; Tiffany Jackson, homeless program coordinator; Charla Hayes, IDEA district administrator, MSIP director, and 504 compliance coordinator; Patti Jones, MoreNet computer project coordinator and technology director; board of education president, non-discrimination compliance coordinator; Kelley Speakes, professional development coordinator; Chad Morgan, safety coordinator and Safe Schools Act coordinator; Pete Mansfield, technology specialist; Ashley Lange, testing and assessment coordinator; DeDee Binkard, Title IX compliance coordinator; and Sarah Bibbs, video program director.
Prior to the approval of directors and coordinators, the board heard a summer school report from the various campuses.
In the kindergarten through eighth-grade program, enrollment is nearly 200. In the high school program, enrollment is currently around 40.
In the superintendent's report, Larry Wood informed the board that the district is expecting a positive bank balance at the close of the school year, which ends June 30. An exact number was not available at press time, as Wood is waiting on a final payment.
Wood then informed the board that the summer maintenance at each campus is going well, with the following items already completed:
* A wall has been repaired in front of the high school auditorium, and;
* The kitchen storage room has been painted and shelving has been repaired.
Other issues will be addressed as the summer progresses.
In new business, the board:
* Approved amending the budget to match the final expenditures for the 2011-2012 school year;
* Approved the payment of the Missouri School Boards' Association membership dues in the amount of $4,300;
* Approved budget amendments for year-end transfers by the auditor, and;
* Adopted amending the 2011-2012 budget as the interim budget for the 2012-2013 school year.
Also in new business, the board reviewed the student handbooks for each campus.
Changes to the handbooks include a section regarding throwing items out of bus windows in the middle school book, and at the high school, an addition was made stating that if students have excessive absences, they will be required to attend summer school.
The board also approved the payment of the Kennett tuition statement in the amount of $195,929.
The board then adjourned to executive session to discuss personnel matters.
After adjourning back to open session, the board approved the retirement and resignation of Randy Smith, athletic director/physical education instructor/baseball coach.
According to Wood, Smith's position will not be filled with a new hire, and current employees will take over his duties.
