Charles Roland Byrd, 89, of Risco died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at his residence in Risco. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Pleasantview General Baptist Church in Risco.
Born in Grubbs, Ark., on October 20, 1922, he was the son of the late Charlie Byrd and Jewel Ruby Byrd. On February 8, 1950, in Malden he was united in marriage to Murle Green, who preceded him in death on June 11, 2012.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Donnie Woodruff and Marie Miller and two brothers, Sidney Byrd and Perry Byrd.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel Byrd and wife, Donna, of Sikeston and Keith Byrd and wife, Tammy, of Dexter; three sisters, Pauline McGee of New Madrid, Joy Watson of Dexter and Lois Smelser and husband, Floyd, of Risco, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Friday, June 15, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services followed immediately in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Powell officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
