Ruth Louise "Lou" Arthur, was born May 26, 1929, in Hornersville, Mo., to the late Harrison Joshua and Magnolia Krapf Rhew.
Lou lived most of her life in Dunklin County and has resided in Kennett since 1966 with her husband Charles. She retired in 1992 after 33 years with Emerson Electric, seven years in Paragould and twenty-six years in Kennett. After retiring from Emerson she served as a Wal-Mart greeter and a Senior Companion with the VNA of Southeast Missouri. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kennett.
On May 30, 1948, she was married to Charles Lee Arthur in Hornersville.
Lou and Charlie have two children, Sandra Jeffress, of Nashville, Tenn., and Gary and his wife, Diane, of St. Charles, Mo. They have three granddaughters, Kimberly and husband, Chris Hollahan, of Nashville, and Elizabeth and Lauren Arthur, both of St. Charles. They have one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Hollahan ,of Nashville.
Lou was the youngest of nine children and is survived by one sister, Lena Mitchell, of St. Louis, Mo. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bethel and Roy Rhew, and five sisters, Ethel Horner, Vena Hatcher, Effie Kinsolving, Inez Rhew and Agnes Rauls. She is also survived by many relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Thursday, June 14, at McDaniel Funeral Service in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 15, at the First United Methodist Church in Kennett.
Burial will follow in the Dunklin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Danny Rhew, Mike Rhew, Roy Rhew, Jr., Freddie Krapf, Terry Credille and Vince Lato.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made in Lou's honor to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 151, Kennett, Mo., The VNA Senior Companion Program, PO Box 768 ,Kennett, MO., or the VNA Hospice Program, PO Box 768, Kennett, MO.
