Dorothy Merguie
Dorothy Virginia Merguie, daughter of the late Robert Kincade Wright and Beatrice Boyd Wright Proffer, was born on Aug. 15, 1920 in Bonham, Texas and departed this life on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the age of 91 years, nine months, and 23 days.

She married Benny A. Merguie on Nov. 25, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas who preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 2006.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kennett and Lydia Sunday School Class where she served several terms as president, a past Sunday School teacher, a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 211 in Kennett. She worked at Sears Roebuck and Company, a retiree of 29 and a half years. She was also a past president of the 20th Century Club, past Brownie assistant leader and Girl Scout leader, past Cub Scout den mother where she received a plaque of recognition for her service and the den winning a lot of blue ribbons on crafts booth.

Survivors include one son, Ron Merguie and wife, Billie, of Jonesboro, Ark.; one daughter, Sandra C. Thorn, of Mountain Home, Ark.; three grandchildren, John David Merguie and wife, Lisa, of Conway, Ark., Dana Aulgur and husband, Jeff, of Russellville, Ark., and Scott David Thorn of Mountain Home; five great-grandchildren, Alex and Julianne Merguie, Sloan and Erin Aulgur, and Nico Thorn and other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be 12:30 p.m., on Saturday, June 9 at McDaniel Funeral Service in Kennett.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 9, at McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

The family requests donations may be made to Kennett First Baptist Church, 300 St. Francis St. in Kennett. or the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice at 1148 E. Matthews in Jonesboro, Ark.
