Laura Ann Foster, 79, of Campbell, Mo., passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Aug. 21, 1932, in Campbell, she was the daughter of the late Claud Telford and Amy Lee Nelson Foster.

She graduated from Campbell High School in 1950, and was valedictorian of her class. She was a very good student and loved education. She graduated from SEMO State in 1962 with a BS Degree in Education and in 1972 with a Master Degree in Counseling. Her career in teaching began in a rural school near Qulin, Mo. When Campbell Schools was reorganized she taught the second grade then moved to teaching the first grade. In 1970 she became the Campbell High School Counselor and held that position until 1989 when she retired to help care for her ailing father. Laura Ann and her mother, Amy traveled extensively, from 1990 until 1998, when Amy's health began to deteriorate. Alaska and the Holy Land were among their visits. Laura Ann was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star from an early age and held many positions during her membership. She served as District Deputy Grand Matron in 1961, and held the position of Worthy Matron numerous times. Laura Ann was always willing to help anyone with a problem. Her father often said that Laura Ann would give you the shirt off her back. As a teacher she touched many lives and always tried to make things a little better than she found them. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Campbell.

Survivors include one sister, Connie Lu Kiser and husband, Don, of Gallatin, Tenn.; one brother, Claud Lee Foster and wife, Pat, of Campbell; five nephews; one niece; five great-nephews and two great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew, Claud Lee Foster, Jr.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, May 18, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 19, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Noyes officiating.

Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Campbell.
