Bernice June Dry McFarland, of Hornersville, Mo., passed away Monday, May 7, 2012, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Piggott, Ark., at the age of 86.
Born June 8, 1925, in Newark, Ark., she graduated from Senath High School in 1943, and attended Central Methodist College. Bernice lived most of her life in Hornersville with her beloved husband of 55 years, Willard Bernard McFarland and her two sons, Bill and Barry. For many years she taught at the Arbyrd Head Start. She was a member of the Hornersville Methodist Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Bernice was also a former Democratic committee woman in Clay Township. In her free time she loved fishing and golfing.
Survivors include one son, Bill McFarland; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Dry; daughters-in-law, Lisa Frey and Michele McFarland; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Dry; her mother, Gertie Dry; a brother, Melvin Dry; her husband, Bernard McFarland; a step-daughter, Jeanetta Davis and a son, Barry McFarland.
Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, in the Lulu Cemetery with Rev. Jim Pemberton officiating.
McDaniel Funeral Service in Senath, Mo., was in charge of arrangements.
