Othal Roy Irvin, 95, of Malden died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He share cropped in early years with step-brothers, George Williams and Paul Thompson in New Madrid County, he also tended cattle for W.C. Thompson, before retirement he worked in Land leveling for Herb Preyer from 1963 to 1981, and was a retired farmer. He was of the Baptist faith.

Born in Bollinger, Mo., on May 22, 1916, he was the son of the late Jess Alva Orvin and Lena LeEtta (Horn) Irvin. In 1933 he was untied in marriage to Ella May Johnson, she preceded him in death.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Ivan Irvin, Charles Irvin and Troy Irvin, two infant daughters, Lena Mae Irvin and Ethelene Irvin and one sister, Ethel Mae Richards.

Surviving are one son, J.R. Irvin and wife, Ethel of Toole, Utah; one daughter, Shirley Gough and husband, Harold, of Malden; one brother, Loman Irvin of DeSoto, Mo.; special friend, Francis Farris of Malden; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Sunday, April 29, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services followed immediately in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Jonathan Rice officiating. Burial was in Mt. Gilead Cemetery at Clarkton. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
