James Lester Lawrence, 90, of Gideon, Mo., passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at his residence.

Born March 8, 1922, in Appleton, Ark., son of the late Lester Lawrence and Ida Mae Stroud Lawrence, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII Pacific Theater, and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Gideon.

On Sept. 26, 1942, he married Louise Wright.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Lawrence, of Gideon; two daughters, Donna Lawrence Gales, and Jamie Holiman and husband, Chuck, all of Gideon; two brothers, Norman Lawrence, of Malden, Mo., and Fred Lawrence, of Cabot, Ark.; four sisters, Leta Wise, Marilyn Shipley and Wanda Simpson, all of Arnold, Mo., and Pat Smith, of Foley, Ala.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Kermit Lawrence, and two sisters, Inez Copeland and Carol Lou Wheeler.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 26, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Gideon.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 26, at the First Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Deprow officiating.

Burial with military rites will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo.
