Kenneth Dale Kinchen, 77, of Kennett, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born Jan. 16, 1935, in Hollywood, Mo., son of the late Sydney O'Dell Kinchen and Hattie Mae Buck Kinchen, he was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Kennett.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Frances Smithmier Gadberry, of Florrisant , Mo., Rebecca Smithmier Kraus, of Wentzville, Mo., Kenneth L. Smithmier, of Decatur, Ill., Patricia Benoit, of Temple Texas, Terry Benoit, of Kentwood, La., Steve Kinchen, of Hornersville, Mo., Scott Kinchen, of Dexter, Mo., and Sarah Kinchen Burdin, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; several great-nieces and great-nephews, and special friends Joe Lindsey, and Larry and Nancy Swindle.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Lonnie L. Kinchen, L.C. "Bud" Kinchen and Donald Wayne Kinchen; sisters, Helen Kinchen Smithmier and Nadine Kinchen Benoit; a niece, Martha Smithmier Barrett, and nephews, Donald E. Smithmier and Sidney Michael Smithmier.
Mr. Kinchen was an exceptionally well-educated man who spent most of his working career abroad as an international businessman and foreign-service contractor. He was a lover of classical music and was himself an accomplished amateur pianist. His other hobbies included equestrian sports and gardening. He was also a lifelong student of works in foreign languages, including German, French and Dutch.
To the end of his life he loved, and was loved by the descendants of his brother and sisters.
Graveside funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., Friday, April 20, in the Lulu Cemetery with Sister Karen Thein, SSND, officiating.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
The family asked that donations be made to the Dunklin County Library in Kennett, or St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
