Orval Henry Deweese, 80, passed away at his residence in Gideon, Mo., on Friday, March 22, 2012. Mr. Deweese was born March 28, 1931, in Philadelphia, Miss., to the late Henry Levi Deweese and Lura Jane Lee Deweese.
On May 21, 1958, he married Shirley Midkiff in Clarkton, Mo.
He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army, and a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Gideon. He was a retired educator after serving for 34 years as teacher and principal. Mr. Deweese obtained a Masters Degree as a specialist in Education from Miss. State University .
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Midkiff of Gideon; three daughters, Janie Garris of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Regina Schaffer of Malden, Mo., and Stacy Whitfield and husband, Don, of Kennett; four grandchildren, Jillian Schaffer, Zachary Schaffer, both of Malden, Kelsey Whitfield, and Dalton Whitfield, both of Kennett.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Larue Stone and Reba Jean Carter; two sons-in-laws, Gene Garris and Noel Schaffer.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Saturday, March 24, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at Bradshaw Chapel in Malden with Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.
