Leon Bennett, son of the late Lewis Coleman Bennett and Hettie Elizabeth Wadkins Bennett, was born Jan. 23, 1920, in Kennett, and departed this life on Friday, March 9, 2012, at the age of 92 years, one month and 15 days.
On April 21, 1962, he married Nan Mullikin.
He was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during WWII and the Korean War.
He also served as a member and past secretary and treasurer of NARFE of Kennett-Chapter 1926, and was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Nan Bennett, of Kennett; a sister-in-law, Juanita Bennett, of Rantoul, Ill., and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas W. Bennett and one sister, Cicley Norton Lentz.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, March 12, at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 12, at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
