He was born in Sikeston, Mo., Feb. 14, 1960, to J. L. and Patsy Oswalt.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bilbo and Ruvelle Oswalt; and maternal grandparents, Lee and Edna Burchfield.
Jay is survived by his parents; two sons, Jeremy Oswalt and wife, Tamica, of White Hall, Ark., and Joshua Oswalt, of Cabot, Ark.; one daughter, Joanna Johnson and husband, Chad, of Kennett; five grandchildren, Alayna Gibbs, Alec Gibbs and Cayen Oswalt, all of White Hall, and Shaylee Fann and Abby Johnson, both of Kennett; one sister, Leanne Knisely and husband, Phil of Overland Park, Kan.; one niece, Sarah Knisely, of Overland Park; one nephew, Garrett Griffin, of Overland Park, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
He loved his family and was an avid outdoorsman. He worked at the Arkansas Department of Corrections and was in construction. Jay was a member of the Plum Bayou Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., two hours prior to the service, at Roller England Funeral Home in England, Ark.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Wednesday, Feb. 29, at Plum Bayou Baptist Church in Wright with Bro. Garry Alverson officiating.
