Two-injured in crash on bypass

Friday, February 3, 2012

Two individuals were injured as a result of a front impact collision at the intersection of Kennett Street and the South Bypass yesterday afternoon. According to Kennett Police, who responded to the accident just before 1 p.m., a 2011 Nissan Altima operated by Cindy A. Anthony of Kennett was traveling East on the South Bypass, when she attempted to turn North onto Kennett Street, and did so out of turn, failing to yield to oncoming traffic, which resulted in a separate vehicle, a 2008 Pontiac Torrent driven by Paul M. Cootes, crashing head-on into the front of her car. Based on an illustrated document depicting the scene of the accident, the point of impact occurred as Anthony crossed over into Cootes' lane, as she attempted to turn left on Kennett Street at the intersection across from McDaniel Funeral Home. Both individuals received treatment for injuries sustained during the accident, and the two vehicles were towed from the scene due to extensive damages caused by the forceful impact.
