He was born Sept. 26, 1934, in Holly Island, Ark., and was the son of the late Faber O. and Lena May Cullum Gibson.
He was united in marriage to Frances Birmingham on July 21, 1956, and to this union two daughters were born.
Leland was an Army Veteran and a longtime member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Gibson, of Piggott; daughters, Shelly Prevallet and husband, Stuart, of Perryville, Mo., and Amy Gibson, of Piggott; two grandchildren, Brittany Prevallet, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Benjamin Prevallet, of Springfield, Mo.; sister, Faye Causey and husband, Delmar, of Piggott; two brothers; Larry Gibson and wife, Jane, of Kennett, and Jerry Gibson and wife, Geraldine, of Piggott, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 23, at South Thornton Street Church of Christ in Piggott with Spencer Furby and Sherman Cullum officiating.
Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Benjamin Prevallet, Lindell Broderick, David Birmingham, Danny Hopkins, Mark Gibson, and Luke Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers were Marshall Wheeler and Eugene Hopkins.
Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, was in charge of the arrangements.
