Margie Aliene Higgs, 78, of Malden died Friday, December 31, 2011, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was affiliated with Mt. Zion Jericho General Baptist Church and Stokelan Drive Christian Church.

Born in Malden on July 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Chalmer Clarence Berry and Iva Evelyn (Robertson) Berry. On August 30, 1952, in Piggott, Ark., she was untied in marriage to Donald Faye Higgs, who preceded her in death on October 20, 2005.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Chalmer Berry, Charles Berry, Johnny Berry and Andy Berry, and one sister, Peggy Fuqua.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Dean Stevens of Malden; one brother, Clarence Berry, Jr., of Malden; one sister, Shirley Hughes of Charleston, two grandchildren, April Hurtman of Malden and Michael Stevens of Malden and five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hurtman, Austin Hurtman, Damon Stevens, Dalton Stevens and Dylan Stevens.

Visitation was held Monday, January 2, 2012, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services followed immediately in the funeral home chapel with Pastor James Hamlett officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
