Samuel Everett Darnell, 80, of Malden died Saturday, December 31, 2011, at his residence in Malden. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was the CO-owner of Darnell Brothers Carpet in Malden and a member of the Sunnyvale Church.

Born in Malden on December 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Ralph Darnell and Ada Pearl (Davis) Darnell. On January 3, 1961, he was united in marriage to Dee Lewis, who preceded him in death on April 7, 1991. Later, on November 1, 1992, he married Mary Iline Riddell, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are one son, David (Hotshot) Darnell and wife, Patti M., of Malden; one daughter, Patti Lynn Phelps and husband, Jimmy, of Malden; two step-sons, Nathan Potts of Campbell and Bobby Potts and wife, Crystal, of Bernie; two step-daughters, Sara Joyce and husband, Andrew, of Malden and Sharon Potts of Malden; 23 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one brother, Jim Darnell and wife, Gloria, of Malden.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Burke, Johnna Gorman and Melba Hardin and one brother, W.C. Darnell.

Visitation was held Tuesday January 3, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January, 4, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend James Hamlett officiating. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield. Landess Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to Tri-County Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
