Louis C. Daugherty, 81, of Milan, Tenn., formerly of Portageville, Mo., passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at Milan.

Born Sept. 11, 1930, son of the late Charles H. Daugherty and Goldie B. Sanders, he served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War, was a 32 degree Mason, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Portageville, where he was born again in 1957. He served several years, was a deacon for 14 years, was ordained in October of 1967, and also served as a Trustee, and taught Sunday school class. He was one of the original partners of Delta Auto Parts & Sales, which was established in the early 1950s, and served as the president until time of his retirement.

On July 7, 1957, in Portageville, he married Louise Inman, who preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Goldie B. Sanders and Charles H. Daugherty; his brothers, Charles "Gene" Daugherty on Feb. 15, 2010 and Jerry Daugherty.

Survivors include Louie Daugherty, of Hardin, Ky; one daughter, Lou Ann Wilson and husband, Larry, of Milan; one brother, Everett Daugherty and wife, Brenda, of Portageville; two sisters-in-law, Berna Daugherty and Francis Daugherty, both of Portageville, and one grandchild, Trey Baird and wife, Malloree, of Milan.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Portageville with Revs. Regional Grant, Walter Hammon and Brian Henson.

Burial will military rites will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
