Lucy Wake, 88, On Dec. 26, 2011, Lucy Pauline Wake departed this life and joined her Savior. To family and friends, she was better known as "Grandma Wake." Everyone that knew her, whether close friend or acquaintance, knew that they had been in the presence of a godly woman. She dedicated her life to raising children; her own and her grandkids. She spent many years babysitting children, whom she considered her "kids" as well. When her health began to fail, her legacy continued through her words of encouragement and her loving advice.

Pauline was the daughter of the late William Pankey and Hattie Corbett Pankey, born on May 12, 1923, in Elaine, Ark. Pauline married Lawrence Earnest Wake in July of 1937 in Elaine. Lawrence preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1973.

Grandma Wake taught Sunday School first at Bragg City, Baptist Church in Bragg City, Mo., and then at Third Street Baptist Church in Kennett for 40 + years. She will be lovingly remembered and cherished forever.

Survivors include three sons, Mervin Wake and his wife, Deanna, of Belle, Mo., Lawrence Wake and his wife, Sondra, of Kennett, and Odie Wake and his wife, Vernell, also of Kennett; three daughters, Jewell Brooks and her husband, Donnie, of Kennett, Patsy Strother and her husband, Award, of Bragg City, and Alice Harmon, of Rector, Ark.; 120 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Pankey of Grand Blanc, Mich.; special nieces, Shannon Murchie and her husband, Jim, and Cheryl and her husband, Brent Pankey, and other relatives and many, many friends.

Pauline was preceded in death by one son, Ervin Wake, one daughter, Meredith Stultz and her husband Henry, one brother, Meridith Edward Pankey, five grandchildren, and son-in-law, Wylie Harmon.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, at Third Street Baptist Church in Kennett with Rev. Albert Camp officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers will be Blake and Dillon Parr, Tyler and Austin Harris, Aaron Harmon and Corbin Wake.
