Laverne Goldsmith Evans Harder, 87, of Paragould, Ark., formerly of Kennett, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Phil & Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Nov. 29, 1924, in Clarkton, Mo., daughter of the late James Luther "Luke" Goldsmith and Molly Hamm Goldsmith, she was a 1942 graduate of Holcomb High School, and a member of Lindenwood Christian Church in Memphis, Tenn.
On March 22, 1946, in Kennett, she married Freddie Evans who preceded her in death on March 26, 1988. She was also preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Ranee Goldsmith Evans, of Memphis; three grandchildren, Heather McDonald and Carie Elizabeth McDonald, both of Olive Branch, Miss., and Leah McDonald, of Tupelo, Miss.; two sisters, Doris Wright, of Kennett and Wanda Nations, of Florida; a special friend, J.W. "Bud" Long, of Paragould, and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 9, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 9, at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ron Buck officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
