Nellie Imogene DeMent passed from this life Friday, Dec. 2 , 2011, at National Health Care in Kennett, at the age of 82.
She was born Sept. 12, 1929, to Charlie William and Missouri Ann Jackson Walker in Tipperary, Ark. She was a charter member of Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell, Mo.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harvey Walker and Carl Walker, and two sisters, Thelma Woody and Irene Bruner.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Wayne DeMent; one daughter, Margaret DeMent, of Paragould, Ark.; three sons, Dr. Bill DeMent and wife, Tammy, of Bentonville, Ark., Doug DeMent and wife, Donna, of Cardwell, and Greg DeMent and wife, Tonna, of Paragould; two grandsons, Aaron DeMent, Matthew DeMent and wife, Tabitha, all of Paragould; two granddaughters, Lori Black and husband, Charles, of Little Rock, Ark., and Heather Walton and husband, Hugh, of Jonesboro, Ark., and two great-grandchildren, Ryan DeMent and Sydney Black.
Imogene was a retired teacher, having taught 30 plus years for Southland School District and Williams Baptist College. Teaching was her passion, as she loved to see children and adults learn. She especially loved teaching English and literature. She also taught Sunday School and was the song leader for Calvary Full Gospel Church for many years. She was a dedicated and faithful child of God.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 5th, at Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell with Revs. Leland DeMent and Mark McMinn officiating.
Burial was in the Cardwell Cemetery.
Heath Funeral Home of Paragould was in charge of arrangements.
