Local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from Troop 272 and Troop 89 will again be out in full force in area neighborhoods this coming Saturday, as they collect the food donated for the "Scouting for Food" program.
Last Saturday, the scouts left plastic bags hanging on citizens doors, urging residents to donate to a worthy cause and since the holidays are just right around the corner, in all probability the need will be great.
Scouts from all across the nation participate in this annual event but at different times. According to Cub Master Charlie Brown, in Kennett, it is always done around this time of year.
Brown urges residents to give food that they themselves would eat. Items that are non-perishable, canned goods, or things that are boxed are highly recommended.
The food that is donated will go to benefit the Helping Hand.
Pick-up of the filled bags will be on Saturday, Nov. 19 and will be greatly appreciated.
