Harry Jefferson Bazzell was a businessman in Kennett, Piggott, Cardwell, and Paragould for the past 63 years. He dedicated his entire working life to the John Deere business.

Harry Jefferson Bazzell, 85, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 6, 2011.

He was the active manager and owner of the John Deere dealership in Kennett and Piggott, as well as a 32nd degree Mason with the Shriner Temple. During his life, he also served as a member of the Rotary Club, a deacon of the First Christian Church in Kennett, and a member of the United Methodist Church in Paragould, Ark. He was best known for his love and dedication to his family and wife, Joan Cole Bazzell.

Harry will also be warmly remembered for his generosity to those in need, especially at his dealerships. In recent years, he established the Harry Jefferson Bazzell Scholarship Fund at Southeast Missouri State University. This fund enables his employees, their children, and local students in the community to pursue a college education. He quietly helped many and found this to be most gratifying and meaningful.

Harry is survived by his wife Joan, who resides in Kennett; his son, Jeff Bazzell and his wife, Tina, who also live in Kennett, and his daughter, Cindy Hine and her husband, David, who live in Claremont, Calif. Harry has four grandchildren, David Hine, Susannah Hine, Trey Bazzell, and Macy Bazzell. He has one sister, Joan Bazzell Brocksmith and her husband, Tom, of Paragould, Ark., and a brother-in-law, Joe Burstyne, who lives in Memphis, Tenn.

Harry was born on Oct. 24, 1925. His loving parents were H.M and Ollie Bazzell of Paragould, Ark. He graduated from Lakeside High School in 1942. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Troy Jefferson Bazzell; two sisters, Wanda Bazzell Burstyne and Roma Bazzell Dayton, and brother-in-law, Clint Dayton.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that friends and loved-ones consider a donation in his name to the Harry Jefferson Bazzell Scholarship Fund. Visitation and memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 300 College Avenue, Kennett, Missouri. Visitation will from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 9, 2011. Memorial Service will begin at 11 a.m.

Harry's family would like to acknowledge and thank the many friends who prayed, called, and asked about him during his illness the last few years. Your loving kindness and concern will never be forgotten.

Pallbearers will be Trey Bazzell, David Hine, Heath Allen, Phillip Allen, Shad Rowe, Paul Bingham, Kevin Brocksmith, Bill Burstyne, Kim Burstyne, Chip Dalton and Bobby Cole.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Hall Dalton, Towny Sparks, Cecil Ellis, Bill Farrell, Wendell Crow, John Wilder, Bobby Shanklin, Bill Crysler, Greg Crysler, Blue Riggan, Surat Sinasa, Kody Riggan, Chris Crysler, Tom Kirk, Charles Parker, Verlon Phelps, Donald Masters, Kneibert Stillman, Darrell Hicks and Jack Burgess.

McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett, Missouri will be in charge of the arrangements.
