Ernie Dewayne Staires, 53, of Atkins, Ark., formerly of Marmaduke, Ark., died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark.
He was born Feb. 6, 1958 in Marmaduke. He loved hunting and was of Baptist belief.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Staires.
Survivors include his mother, Georgia Staires, of the home; sisters, Nita Staires of Marmaduke, and Lisa Tilley, of Hornersville, Mo.; brothers, Terry Staires, of Marmaduke, Tony Staires of Oak Grove, Ark., and Les Staires of Piggott, Ark., and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his dog, Buster.
His life was celebrated at 10 a.m., today, Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Heath Colonial Chapel in Paragould, Ark., with Rev. Kim Bridges officiating.
Burial was in the Harvey's Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry Staires, Tony Staires, Les Staires, David Smith, Allen Newell and Jarrod Fields.
Honorary pallbearers were Craig Staires, Tim Travelstead, Skip Tilley, Rudy Sanford, Rusty Gibson, Chris McDonald and Keri Don McDonald. Memorials may be sent to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 120 Wall Street, New York, NY 10005.
