SENATH, Mo. -- Area residents filled the sanctuary, foyer, and spilled into the parking lot of the Senath Church of Christ on Saturday afternoon in support of the family of BreeAnn Rodriguez, a local three-year-old who's life was tragically taken on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011.

The funeral service began at 3:45 p.m., and was officiated by the Rev. Dagoberto Barbosa, the Rev. Kevin Sullivan, and Jody McFadden, as a standing-room-only crowd of family, friends, and supporters gathered amongst the multitude of flowers and balloons to pay their final respects to the young child.

The crowd listened quietly, as the officiators attempted to bring closure to the family, speaking of the wonders of God and reciting the poem, "Jesus Loves the Little Children."

Following the service, the crowd of nearly 300 individuals escorted Rodriguez' family as they walked, serenaded by the tolls of the Methodist Church's bell, from the Church of Christ to the Senath Cemetery, where the service continued.

Following a short message and a prayer, the crowd said their final good-byes before leaving the family to mourn at the grave site.

Little BreeAnn was then laid to rest in the Mr. & Mrs. Dalton Via Addition of the Senath Cemetery.

I have been following this heartbreaking story from Columbus, Ohio and want BreeAnn's family and the people of Senath know that you are in the thoughts of so many people you've never even met. We all wish you peace, strength, and comfort now and in the future.

Also, I'm appreciate of the Democrat's sensitive yet thorough coverage of this case. I hope you will keep us updated as developments continue.
