Wilma Jean Strawther Nolen, of Kennett, daughter of the late Newton Albert Strawther and Annie Gertrude Bollinger Strawther, was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Caruth, Mo., and departed this life Saturday, July 16, 2011, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 26 days.
Jean married Robert E. Nolen on Feb. 26, 1942. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1996. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Robert, George, Joe, Woodrow, Albert and Charles Strawther and one sister, Gladys McGee.
She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Becky Sumrall, of Jonesboro; one granddaughter, Angie Neal Jones and husband, Tim, of Jonesboro; two great-grandsons, Rylan and Pace Jones, both of Jonesboro; a niece, Emma Byrd, of Kennett; several nieces and nephews in California, and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 18, at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Greg Wilson, Jeremy Potts, Mark Cannon, Marty Foster, Kolby Cole and Robert Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Baker and Bill Brooks.
