Verla Hays, daughter of the late Henry and Justine Hackworth Davidson, was born June 6, 1934, in Hornersville, Mo., and passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, at the age of 77.
She was a member of the Hornersville class of 1953, and a member of the Coldwater Methodist Church.
On Aug. 28, 1953, in Clarkton, Mo., she married James Edward Hays, who preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1980. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wilburn and a sister, Peggy Geister.
Survivors include one son, James Hays and wife, Shirley, of Senath, Mo.; one daughter, Jimmie Jan Wright and husband, Johnny, of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, DeWayne Davidson and Jackie Davidson, both of Holcomb, Mo.; two sisters, Shirley Goff, of Senath, and Betty Fay Russell, of Paragould, Ark.; several nieces and nephews, and other family and many friends.
Visitation will be from noon until service time at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 16, at McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 16, at McDaniel Chapel with Rev. Jarod Hancock officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lulu Cemetery near Senath.
Pallbearers are Jake Talbert, Johnny Wright, Danny Burr, David Bettiegrue and Kenny Johnson.
