Marcella Horton, of Rector, daughter of the late Ishmael and Ida Mae (Goodman) Simpson , was born August 26,1928, in the Leonard Comminity, and passed away Friday, July 8, 2011, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett Mo., at the age of 82 years.Marcella loved being with her grandchildren and enjoyed teaching Suday School for over 50 years. She was a member of the Holly Island Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and their wives : Jerry and Zelda Horton and Steve and Tracy Horton all of Rector, a daughter and her husband: Sheila and Tony Davidson of Jackson Tennessee, eight granchildren: Michael Hoton, Jodi Horton, Kirk Horton, Casie Vaughn, Matt Hale, Nicole Benson, Jay Beacham and Cathy Ward ten great-grandchildren: Trey Horton, Alexandra Ward, Caleb Ward, Sophie Blake Ward, Wilks Ward, Calvin Ward, Jordan Vaughn, Karston Vaughn, Ivy Benson and Jett Benson, three sisters: Millicent Somers of Rector, Anna Mae Tuggle of Arizona and Patty Pruett of Rector, a special friend: Sandy Wallace along with a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward Horton, an infant daughter: Allyson Candace Horton, and four brothers: James, Henry, Gerald and Beryl Simpson,
Visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 3:00 at the Irby funeral home in Rector with Kenny Burns and Ken Roden officiating..
Interment will be at the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway.
