Ray A. Williams, of Piggott, Ark., son of the late W.F. Williams and Evaline Brashers Williams, was born Dec. 1, 1929, in Kennett, and departed this life Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Piggott Community Hospital, at the age of 81 years 6 months and 17 days.

Ray was married to Betty Poole for 46 years. She preceded him in death. He has been married to Peggy Wilson for the past 8 years. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Wilson Williams, James F. Williams, Ralph Williams and Allen Williams and one sister, Francis Carter.

Ray served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Williams, of Piggott; one son, Joey R. Williams, of Jonesville, La.; one daughter, Pam Williams and her husband, Glenn Maddock, of West Monroe, La.; three grandchildren, Holly Williams Anderson and her husband, Josh, of Baton Rouge, La., Stephen R. Williams and his wife, Aimee, of Baton Rouge, and Glenn Maddock, Jr., of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Marjorie Bunting, of Risco, Mo., and Neoma Lee Robertson, of Rosedale, Miss., and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Tuesday, June 21, at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Marston Carpenter officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Jerry Carter, Dan Carter, Rick Bunting, Jim Smelser, David Smith, and Bailey Hankins.

Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Williams, Randy Williams, Ted Williams, John Bunting and Bertis Ray.
