Luz Lerma, 88, of Malden died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Malden Nursing Center in Malden. She was a homemaker and affiliated with Lighthouse Baptist Church in Malden.

Born in Redville, Texas, on February 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Nicanor and Lucas Gonsalez. On April 24, 1946 in Genoa, Ohio, she was untied in marriage to Felix Ynacio Lerma, who preceded her in death on May 12, 1999.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Santos Gonsalez and Jose Gonsalez; two sisters, Lena Gonsalez and Maria Fuentes, one son, John Lerma and three grandchildren, Lucy Manning, Valentin Manning and Julito Lerma.

Surviving are six sons, Val Lerma and wife, Bobbi, of Toledo, Iowa; Felix Lerma, Jr. of Malden; Alfredo Lerma of Avon Park, Fla.; Jessie Lerma and wife, Linda, of Ferndale, Fla.; Joseph Lerma and wife, Amy, of Malden; and Julian Lerma and wife, Jessica, of Portageville; nine daughters, Reynalda Lerma of Malden; Anita Zavala and husband, Manuel, of Brownsville, Texas; Mary McMillion and husband, Don, of Springfield, Mo.; Linda Wilson and husband, Tom, of Malden; Maria "Maggie" Lerma of Risco; Lupe Jacobson and husband, Don, of Hope N.D.; Janie Valleda and husband, Ernesto, of Winter Haven, Fla.; Lenora Stacy and husband, Gene, of Jefferson City, Mo.; and Isabel Ross and husband, R.L., of Malden; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Thursday, June 9, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 10, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Julian Lerma officiating. Burial was in Rosewood Cemetery at Malden. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
