James Milton Horner, of Swartz Creek, Mich., 77, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at his home.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Thursday, May 19, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, and from 11 a.m., Friday, May 20, until service time.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with Pastors Steven Thomas, Tony Lynn and Chris Yager officiating.
Burial will follow in Crestwood Cemetery in Grand Blanc, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to "Christian Missions" through Cornerstone Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Horner was born in Hornersville, Mo., March 23, 1934, the son of Ranley D. and Mattie Opal Rhew Horner. He was a resident of Hornersville and Swartz Creek.
On July 3, 1954 he married Frances Marilene Curtis in Hornersville.
He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Swartz Creek and Landmark Baptist Church in Haines City, Fla.
Mr. Horner was a Tool & Die Maker at Chevrolet Metal Fab.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Marilene Curtis Horner; sons, Mark A. Horner and wife, Cris, of Lakeway, Texas, and Timothy J. Horner and wife, Carolynn, of Battle Creek, Mich.; daughters, Sheree A. Thomas and husband, Steven, of Carleton, Mich., Karen R. Steinbeck and husband, Carl, of Flushing, Mich., Jamie M. Lynn and husband, Tony, of Monroe, Mich., Lisa G. Nix, of Plano, Texas, and Tracy L. Edwards and husband, Doug, of Grand Blanc; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a sister, Ida Lois Vance and husband, Jerry, of Midland.
