Joanne Elizabeth Burton, daughter of the late Chester R. Peck and Charlotte Fry Peck, was born Oct. 16, 1948, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., and departed this life Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at the age of 62 years, 7 months and 1 day.
Joanne married Gerald Burton on June 19, 1982.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Burton, of Kennett; two daughters, Julie Burton, of Paragould, Ark., and Janis Burton, of Pineville, Mo.; two brothers, Buddy Peck and his wife, Tricia, of Houston, Texas, and Richard Peck and his wife, Rebecca, of Kennett; one sister, Carol Robison and her husband, John, of Kennett, and several nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
Joanne was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Peck.
Joanne was a member of the First United Methodist Church and worked at Twin Rivers Medical Center for over 30 years. She served as former president and member of the Adelphian Civic Club, Chairman of the Delta Children's Home Auction, Co-chairman for Relay for Life, Girl Scout troop leader for troops #124 and #385, Chairman of the quilting exhibit at the Delta Fair for over 25 years, American Red Cross ACLS Facilitator and CPR instructor, Kennett Chamber of Commerce Educator of the year in 2000 and Selected as an Outstanding Young Woman of Kennett in 1982. Joanne's personal interest included sewing, quilting and reading.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, May 20, at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 21, at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Steven Scherer and Gary Carter officiating.
