Lona Mae James, daughter of the late Benjamin H. Reagan and Elretta Hardin Reagan, was born Oct. 31, 1910. in Kennett, and departed this life Thursday, May 12, 2011, at the age of 100 years, 6 months and 12 days.
Lona Mae married Jesse R. James on Feb. 15, 1930, in Piggott, Ark. Jesse preceded her in death on May 4, 2004. Lona Mae was also preceded in death by one grandson; three brothers, Earl, Hargus and J.D. Reagan and two sisters, Lena Benson and Venida Grijalva.
She was a member of Slicer Street Church of Christ where she taught bible classes for many years. She was also well known in the community for her leadership in the Dorcas work at Slicer Street.
Survivors include two sons, Gary R. James and wife, Shirley Ann, of Jonesboro, Ark., and Michael L. James and wife, Elizabeth, of Athens, Greece; two daughters, Avis M. Burrow ,of Ladue, Mo., and Sandra J. Harrison, of Gastonia, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; seven great -great-grandchildren; one brother, Corbett L. Reagan, of Prague, Okla.; three sisters, Ravenell Phillipe, of Columbia, Mo., Glenda Larke, of Royal Oak, Mich., and Carmalita Hancock, of Duarte, Calif., and other relatives and many many friends.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 15, at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 16, at McDaniel Chapel with Spencer Furby officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Leonard Boggs, Jeff Bridges, Gaylon Mullins, Jim Brice, Matt Hodges and Gerald Caraway.
