James married Sally K. Hargrove on March 18, 1948.
He served in the United States Army during WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Marchbanks, of Gideon, Mo.; three sons, Freddie Ronald "Ron" Marchbanks and wife, Verrell, of Charleston, S.C., James Donald "Don" Marchbanks and wife, Pat, of Bartlett, Tenn., and Al Joseph Marchbanks and wife, Johnna, of Gideon; one daughter, Kathy Sue Marchbanks, of New Madrid, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Everett Marchbanks and wife, Elma, of Bragg City, Mo., Charles Marchbanks, of Dupo, Ill., Harvey Marchbanks and wife, Helen, of St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters: Helen Christy and husband, Don, of Kennett, and Margie Allred and husband, Wayne, of Ripley, Tenn., and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by two great-grandsons, Jonathon David McConnell-Lawrence and Dustin Matthew McConnell-Lawrence; one brother, Curtis Marchbanks, and two sisters, Louise Waller and Maxine Garrett.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., today, Friday, May 6, at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 7, at McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Revs. Dale Rickman and Al Henderson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Gary Marchbanks, Robin Marchbanks, Duane Sullivan, Harold Lowry, Rick Lowry, and Opie Olinger.
