He was a Master Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, a retired school teacher and attended Cardwell First Baptist Church.
On July 25, 1953, in St. Louis, Mo., at the Euclid Baptist Church, he married Jewell Estes, who survives.
In 1958, Chief Damage Controlman Bladen Mabrey, an instructor at the Fleet Training Center in Charleston, N.C. Naval Base, became the only man in his rating in the Navy entitled to wear the double star of Master Petty Officer. He was a veteran of 20 years of Naval service, including duty aboard the battleships Missouri and Colorado and was a Navy instructor at Norfolk, Va., and Key West, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Mabrey of Cardwell; three daughters, Sonja Williams and husband, Allen, of Arbyrd, Mo., Marilyn Branch and husband, Tommy, Dana Blankenship and husband, Randy, all of Cardwell; one sister, Betty Lou Kenton, of Hershey, Neb.; nine grandchildren, Brett, Brady, Derek, and Daren Williams, Jana Jansson, Christopher Branch, Timothy, Patrick, and Kelli Blankenship; six great-grandchildren, Halie Jansson, Noah Jansson, Nathan Jansson, Karis and Eden Blankenship, Eva Blankenship, and Boston Williams, and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Dale Mabrey, and a sister, Elsie Hogan.
The visitation will be held at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., on Sunday, April 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., on Sunday, April 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with Rev. David Powell officiating.
Burial will be in the Cardwell Cemetery.
Grandsons and granddaughters will serve as pallbearers.
