Ira Easily Babcock, 89, of Malden died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, retired from Federal Mogul in Malden and affiliated with the Second General Baptist Church in Malden.

Born April 21, 1921 in Portageville, he was the son of the late Elbert and Lulu (Alexander) Babcock. On Oct. 28, 1941, in Caruthersville, he was united in marriage to Genevieve Ledbetter, who survives.

Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Linda Babcock of St. Ann, Mo.; four grandchildren, Brian Babcock of St. Louis, Kristina Irby of St. Ann, Paul Babcock of Poplar Bluff and Steve Babcock of Fayetteville, Ark.; one daughter-in-law, Linda Faye Babcock; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Orville Babcock; five brothers, Leon, Lloyd, Junior, Franklin, and Joe Paul Babcock and one sister, Grace Birchett.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 4, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 5, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Gore officiating. Burial with military rites was conducted at Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Second General Baptist Church in Malden.
