Lema Laviece (Cooper) Koengeter, a long-time resident of Malden, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Malden.
She was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Malden. She was the 11th of 13 children born to the late Hubert Randolph and Maggie Florence (Price) Cooper.
Laviece grew up in Malden. After graduation, she settled in Ann Arbor, Mich., where she worked as a secretary until she retired and relocated back to Malden. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Malden.
She leaves to cherish her memory numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Carrie Remma Polen, Clara Irene Wiley, Lucy Opal King, Essie Beatrice Harrison and Nola M. Legan; and seven brothers, John Cicero Cooper, George Washington Cooper, Eli Lois Cooper, Levi Clois Cooper, Roy Lloyd Cooper, Floyd C. Cooper and Elton Almond "Lefty" Cooper.
Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 16, at the Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden. Funeral services followed immediately in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Paul Williams officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden. Landess Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
