Chester Peterson, 90, of Campbell died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell. A veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II, he also was a retired farmer.

Born on June 29, 1920, in Bernie, he was the son of the late John Fredrick and Gardie Denim Peterson. On Nov. 25, 1942, in Piggott, Ark., he was united in marriage to Helen Marie Goldsmith, who preceded him in death on Oct. 2, 2007.

Also preceding him in death were an infant daughter, Glenda Peterson; two grandchildren; two great-grandchldren; and two brothers, John Fredrick Peterson and Charles Otis Peterson.

Survivors include three daughters, Helen Harris and husband, Ken, of Malden, Connie Hawley and husband, Edgar, of Yuma, Ariz., and Pat Laws and husband, Randy, of Arnold; four sons, James "Pete" Earl Peterson and wife, Glenda, of Dittmer, Bill Peterson and wife, Penny, and Dan Peterson and wife, Mitze, all of Campbell, and Roy Peterson and wife, Geralyn, of Dittmer; 24 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 12, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell. Funeral services followed immediately in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Bowlby officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery-Landess Addition in Campbell. Landess Funeral Home of Campbell was in charge of arrangements.
