Windel Hugene Thompson, 77, of Campbell, died on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
He was born May 20, 1933, in Campbell to the late Thomas Jefferson and Hester Mary Smith Thompson.
He was a mechanic for L & O Ford Tractor Company; a supervisor for the Camp-bell City Light Plant and an area farmer for many years.
On Oct. 26, 1954, he married Billie Jean Darter in Kennett. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Windell Ray Thompson and wife, Helen, of Campbell and Dennis Hugene Thompson and wife, Linda, of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Joey Thompson and wife, Cindy, of Campbell and Mandy Kerperien and husband, Vincent, of Paragould, Ark.; three great-grandchildren, Collin Thompson, Neil Kerperien and Lily Kerperien; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thomas Howard Thompson and Gary Dean Thompson; and one sister, Barbra Sue Thompson.
Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 7, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell. The funeral service was conducted on Saturday, Jan. 8, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Darren Baker officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden. Landess Funeral Home of Campbell was in charge of arrangements.
