Shirley Yvonne Burns, the daughter of the late Shirley Newt and Maggie Burns, was born Nov. 29, 1954 in Pemiscot County and died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at the age of 55 years.

She was a homemaker and had worked for a number of years as a certified nurse's aide and was a cashier for a local convenience store. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are one brother, Shannon Burns and wife, May Ann, of Union City, Tenn.; two sisters, Janie Siegler of Perryville and Regina Everett and husband, Bill, of Malden; one sister-in-law, Barbara Burns of Steele; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Thomas Jasper Burns, Jackie Burns, Steven Bruce Burns, Michael Burns and Paul Burns; and three sisters, Vivian Peters, Martha Ann Rushing and Linda Kaye Mancell.

Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
