Betty Jane Robison, daughter of the late Paul A. Blakemore and Lessie Rogers Blakemore, was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Kennett, and departed this life on Oct. 27, 2010, at the age of 88 years, two months, and 23 days. Betty Jane married E.L. "Jim" Robison on July 31, 1943. Jim preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1979.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Robison, and wife, Charolyn, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and John Robison, and wife, Carol, of Kennett; one daughter, Jane Wilkins, and husband, Mitch, of Paris, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She also leaves a special cousin, Claude R. Hazel, of Houston, Texas. In addition, she leaves her special caregivers, Theresa Gibson, Shawnda Moody, Sue Hayden, Denise Bowman, Barbara Cook, Marsha Morrison, Carol Carpenter, and Mary Brown.
Mrs. Robison attended Kennett Schools, graduating in 1939. She later attended SEMO University and graduated in 1943 from the University of Missouri in Columbia.
After raising her children, Mrs. Robison devoted her time to her church, the First United Methodist Church, and serving others, as well as volunteer work at Helping Hand and the Dunklin County Library, as this gave her great pleasure.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, Oct. 28, from 6-8 p.m., at McDaniel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 29, at the First United Methodist Church in Kennett with the Rev. Gary Carter officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers will be Mark Wilkins, David Wilkins, John Wilkins, Joe Presley, Rex Jeffress, and Scott Robison.
The family request that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church Emergency Fund.
