J.W. Rudd passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo., at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 27 days.
He was born April 15, 1950, in Pumpkin Center, Mo., to Willis E. Rudd and Burma Scott Rudd. He was a member of the Pentecostal Faith and was a lifelong resident of the Bootheel area. He attended school in North Pemiscot County and was a farmer.
J.W. is survived by two sons, Dennis Rudd and wife, Misty, of Bragg City, Mo., and Matthew Rudd and wife, Tracy, of Wardell, Mo.; three daughters, Peggy Strange, of Castor, La., Sally Smith and husband, Chester, of Bragg City, and Rebecca Rudd, of Hayti, Mo.; one sister, Katherine Petty, of Kennett; two brothers, Randall Rudd, of Hayti and Jerry Rudd, of Wonderlake, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Todd Strange, Brittany Smith, Lonzo Smith, Zachary Burns, Blake Strange, Destin Stacy, Michael Flippo, Sarah Stacy, Tate Rudd and Taylor Rudd, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Burma Rudd, and four brothers, Jessie Rudd, John Rudd, Carl Rudd and James Rudd.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Oct. 13, at H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville, Mo.
Funeral, services were held Thursday, Oct. 14, at H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kenny Lee officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Chester Smith, Robert Rudd, Greg Duffy, Doug Mayberry, Kerry Brent and Jackie Brent.
Honorary pallbearers were Brad Pate and Caleb Duffy.
