Sara Agnes Woolverton, 87, of Malden died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, in Saint Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden, a life member of the WMU of the Baptist Church, former executive board member and member of the Missions Board of the Black River Association, former member of the State Missions Board, former member of the Dunklin County Transit Board, a volunteer at the Bootheel Youth Museum, and volunteered to sing at funerals.

Born Dec. 16, 1922, in Gideon, she was the daughter of the late Owen Staton and May (Meadows) Randolph. On Sept. 1, 1945, in Kennett, she was united in marriage to William Francis Woolverton, who preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1980.

Also preceding her in death was one daughter, Erma Blue; her husband, Bill Flowers; four brothers, H.L., James, Junior and Bob Randolph; and two sisters, Edna LaBrot and Marie Thomas.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Gary and Vickie Woolverton of Poplar Bluff and Gerald and Susan Woolverton of Malden; one daughter and son-in-law, Twyla and Lloyd Merrell of Springs, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly "Kim" Weaver of Springs, Lee Woolverton of Malden, Melissa Jones of Monaca, Penn., Andrea Woolverton of Rome, Italy, Kristin Montgomery of Wentzville, Lance Woolverton of Owensboro, Ky., Jackie Davidson of Kennett, Austin Davidson of Malden, and Kent Blue, Lee Blue and Neal Blue, all of Owensboro; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 11, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden with the Rev. Gary Woolverton, Andy Evans and Lloyd Merrell officiating. Burial was in the Dunklin Memorial Gardens at Kennett. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Stanfield General Baptist Church in Gideon.
